Another city where an event was held by the ECG is Minsk in Belarus, which the film about Igor Savitsky, “The Desert of Forbidden Art” was shown. The documentary draws the audience’s attention to the character of Savitsky: human, humble, fearless and enterprising.
Through his obsessive passion for art, over half a century ago he founded the State Art Museum of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. The museum houses a priceless collection of paintings and works of applied art from all over Central Asia and the wider former-USSR. The movie preview was attended by Belarusian writers, poets, artists and other leaders in the fields of art and culture. A question and answer session with the makers of the film and a presentation from the Eurasian Creative Guild were also held.
